Project developed in 5 month period during the MA degree of Advanced Typography at EINA school.
This study aims to point out the differences between two terms “parameter” and “variable” in typeface design.
The research focuses upon relevant historical precedence related to parameters, revealing the evolution of creating letters within a system and the importance of digital technology in typeface design.
The final part of the essay offers an alternative hierarchy within the variables that give a certain shape of a typeface.
